Our church is in the centre of Newcastle, overlooking the town’s Promenade and Dundrum Bay at the foot of Ireland’s renowned Mountains of Mourne. It is accessible and easily found. There is a public car-park on Causeway Road within two minutes walk of the church and a small car-park at the rear of the church off Park Avenue.
The church is unusual for a Methodist church in being of Gothic design, with stained glass windows and exposed wooden roof timbers. It was built of local Mourne granite in 1928 on the site of an earlier Methodist church which was the first place of worship established in the new seaside town which grew up in the nineteenth century. Our attached hall is not only used by the congregation for the Sunday school and other activities, but also by visiting groups and charitable organisations for various purposes.
We have two Sunday services, morning and evening, and summer visitors swell our congregation. Whatever the time of year, you will be most welcome to visit or to join our fellowship.
